I have two 5 week old Rhode Island Red hens. I had 4, but 2 turned out to be roosters and they recently died. Now that I only have the 2 girls, I wanted to add a couple more to round out the numbers. Should I add younger pullets, or older hens- or does it even matter? Would also appreciate any advice in introducing them. I live in the northern outskirts of Dallas, TX in case climate has any affect on the type of advice. And I currently let the chickens roam the fenced-in back yard during the day and lock them in the coop at night.
I really don't have the energy to go thru the whole first 4 weeks of getting day-old chicks if I can avoid it! I am just now getting my sun room back after these guys moved out to the coop.
