Adding more chicks to the brooder

Am I crazy?!?
Not really....haha!

It's SO easy to want more, they are addicting...but...
....I would not add more to that sized coop, not until you get thru your first winter.
Start planning on how to make an integration area,
then maybe get a couple more chicks in spring.

Originally I told my husband 4 chickens. One for each kid to name and care for. He built the coop and run bigger and somehow we ended up ordering 6. And then an extra chick got thrown in from the hatchery. So.....

Smart man....... that extra chick is probably a male.
So of the 7, if 2 are males, then you're still one up with 5 ;)

When your chicks are about 6 weeks old, post pics in a new thread here:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/what-breed-or-gender-is-this.15/create-thread
and we should be able to tell you how many boys you have.

He knows me too well and also understands chicken math as he grew up with chickens, goats and the occasional cow to feed his family. Good thing too because if I ever need to make a hard decision on any of the birds he'll be there to help!
