adding more eggs??

My hen just hatched 3 eggs . She is still sitting on the nest . Can I add more eggs now that the other eggs have hatched , or will she break this broody stage before the extra eggs have time to hatch ?

If you left the chicks with her, she'll leave the nest with them. If you took them away she may stay on the nest, but it's hard on her to do back to back three weeks of setting. If I were you I wouldn't let her continue setting.

I agree with Katy. Let her raise the chicks she has already hatched.

Being broody is hard on a hen. I always give the hen a protein and calcium level boost. Just don't give the added calcium to the chicks.

i agree i wouldnt add anymore eggs its hard on them. My hen even looses some weight when she comes off the nest with the chicks. Also good to add some sugar water for the chicks after hatching!
