Hello all, as a newbie to chickens this site has been awesome. I need to bother you experienced owners again for some advice. I know some of my questions are probably dumb but I'm new so better safe than sorry.
I presently have 8 hens and one roo. The hens are all red star except 2 are red star crosses and one leghorn. The are all awesome layers I average 7 eggs a day. All brown with 1 white egg. I'm looking to add 4-5 more hens. I have been looking into and have available some 6 month old black sex links I can get. Is there any concerns entering these into the coop with the others? We free range during the day on a 17 acre farmstead and are cooped in a spacious 12x12 space with 6 nesting boxes at night or when I'm out of town. I've heard BSL's lay eggs everywhere they feel like when free ranging. My girls all go back to the coop and lay throughout the day. Any advise would be appreciated as I don't want to be going on Easter egg hunts daily nor do I want my present girls picking up bad habits.
Thank you in advance.
