I will be getting 4 more chicks this weekend to add to my flock. I am getting 2 french copper marans and 2 welsummers to add with my 3 production reds, 3 leghorns, 2 easter eggers and 2 australorps. I know i need to have a quarantine time and then also time where they are closer to get use to each other before introducing the new girls to the big run. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? We have a huge dog kennel that we will be using as the new girls run and we will be making a coop out of a storage container.

How old are the new 'chicks'? Chicks should be about the same size as adults, 3-5 months.

Medical quarantine requires a distance of 50 feet or as much as possible, changing of clothes / shoes and separate equipment...for 30 days.

Sounds like you know some of how to introduce them slowly visually then physically.

Do lots of reading here about integration, lots of different idea for different situations.

Best of Luck to you!

Great info! Thank you so much.. i have 6 chickens (my first group) that are 16 weeks. I have 4 that are 12 weeks and the new girls are 4-5 weeks..

Are you saying that the new girls need their own area, after quarantine, until they are 4-5 months?

I am at work now, but i will deffinetly be reading up on the links you gave me!
Thank you!
