adding new chicks

Right now I have 4 chicks about 5 weeks old..next week im picking up a couple more chicks but they will be just a few days old..my question is do i need to separate the chicks? if so how long..i'm just afraid the older ones might pick on the babies...thanks

Yes. At this point, you may need to separate them until they are equal or close to equal in size.

I had a hard time adding chicks last year when mine were 5/6 weeks old! They pecked and took many weeks to add them safely
I then added two adults when all mine were grown and it was easy!
I lost a few birds and have 6 grown hens and got 3 chicks who are now a week old they will have to get introduced slowly and won't spent time in the coop until they are probably 16 weeks old.
We free range daily so that when I will im introduce them
