Adding new flock members

Hi, very new owner here, I have recently gotten some cochins. A Roo and a hen. I tried putting them with my other chickens(Roo and 7 hens). Needless to say it didn't work and I am keeping them separate and plan on keeping them separate. My question is; will they need adjustment time before they get more gentle? I got them yesterday.

It is recommended that you keep the new chickens quarantined at least a month to be sure they don't carry a disease to the rest of the flock.

2:
After quarantine, you can try keeping the new ones in a cage in the chicken coop the others run in to get used to the sight of one another. Then when you finally mix them, put them in the coop at night so they wake up together.
