Adding new pullets to my flock

I have 7 chickens and I got 8 new ones. I put 1 in the coop and the 7 original chickens attacked it! We put up a fence down the middle of the coop and put a new perch on the other side for the "newbies". How long should I keep them separated?

At least a week. If you can give them free range time together for another week or two before you take the barrier down.
