Yes, sounds good. ddawn is correct, that quarantine isn't perfect; still, that's no reason to skip it or shorten it. At the very least, it will get the new boy used to you and your family a bit more. Hope he works out well for you!

How much ivermectin (probably safeguard) should I use at a time? On my way to TSC right now.

I only use the paste for horses with invermectin so can only speak to that. I squeeze out a BB sized portion and swipe it into the roof of their mouth. Same for Safeguard paste. Then, of course, repeat in a couple weeks.

Though some would get on my case about using it because of the difficulty in knowing how to dose, it is much cheaper than the other forms of wormers that are as effective. I've never had any trouble using it like that.
