I read in another forum that some people feed cat food to their chickens to promote feather growth.

My chickens have been losing feathers, and I'm not sure why. They don't seem to be moulting and no sign of bugs. I'm wondering if maybe it's their diet?

Maybe I should add more protein to their diet? They are on the feed from Farm and Fleet right now, and they get fruits and vegetables as treats.

Do you use canned food or dry? Any other good sources to pump up their protein?

Thanks!

how about ccottage cheese, scrambled eggs, hamburger, yogurt?I know I added canned cat food. There was something in that is hard on them so some were suggesting not using it.Tuna fish,or sardines, etc, mine love the mash and i add 420 then what ever else, lately I have added a touch of garlic,1spoonful of canola oil, ccornmeal and flaxseed to add to their nutrition.they just gobble it up.

I use dry cat food just becoust it is cheaper than the can. I can get 40 lbs for around $8.00
What I do is soak it over night in water to make it soft..
The other thing you can try is a protein power like this:

then you can add a cod liver oil to cut the dust and make it stick to there feed..
