Adding Silkies to a flock of two?

Hey everyone!

I only have two girls right now, bantams with feathered feet, would getting several Silkies be a bad idea for them? They're both really sweet girls, they do like to be "in charge" but there isn't really a pecking order that I've seen in the recent weeks. Originally one of them was the definite boss and now they act pretty equal. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

All you can do is give it a try. Make sure you have a place where the new birds can be kept during the day for a week or so that is next to the existing birds. That way everybody gets time to get used to each other before they share space. Makes integration that much easier. No matter what you do there will be pecking order issues to be worked out. Sometimes Silkies just don't fit in well with other birds just because they are so docile and they look so different. You might want to have a contingency plan just in case it doesn't work out, lol. When I have integrated new birds in the past the most aggressive ones in my older flock have been my tiniest birds, my Golden Sebright bantams. They are sweet, friendly little birds but, like all chickens, they HATE newcomers!
