I have a very small flock of (almost) 4-week-old chicks. Just 7 of them. I am hoping that they are all pullets, but am a bit doubtful about 2 of them. So if any do happen to be roos and we have to get rid of them, would it be OK to buy some started pullets to make up for them? We could try to arrange to get them when they would all be about the same age. (It looks like they are about 17 weeks old from most hatcheries.) My main concern is that they would be "de-beaked" - would this cause them any problems?
Any other issues with buying started pullets?
