I have been reading a lot of information about adding supplements into my layer feed. I recently had a chicken that needed to be put down for what I believe was some kind of intestinal parasite or imbalance. I have never adding supplements but because of this hen having such bad health I thought it would be a good idea to start. My hens are now 18 weeks and some have started to lay. I plan on adding sea kelp, DE, probiotic powder, brewer's yeast & garlic, Omega-3, old fashioned oats, cracked corn, sunflower seeds and dried herbs. Can anyone tell me their thoughts on whether this is a good or bad idea? Thanks

Welcome! You will unbalance what should be a balanced ration. Either feed a quality layer feed or an all- flock feed like Flock Raiser, with oyster shell on the side. Then offer other stuff in limited quantities as treats. Mary

If they are roaming just make sure they have a good quality balanced feed available.. I give them garden left overs like tomatoes and watermelon a few oats but not all the time.
