Please advise adding three young hens to my small flock of 8 hens and three roosters.
Brought them yesterday and kept them overnight in a small house in the coop.
This morning I opened everything and they are in the large coop eating with the visitation of all others taking turns. Some hens are aggressive but not to bad. When will they join the flock ? And should I stay out of it and let them get comfortable on their own ?
My chickens roam free during the day. With coop always available at anytime.
Any advise would be appreciated .....

Well, right or wrong, here is what I do. My birds free range most days as well. However, when adding full grown chickens to the existing flock, I put them in he coop and let them sort it out. If there is blood, I separate them but not otherwise. I also don't let any of them free range for a couple days so the new birds learn where home is and they have time to settle the pecking order. I just did it a couple days ago. There was plenty of fighting but no blood and things are already settling down. Tomorrow, they will all be let out again to free range. Like I said, right or wrong, that's how I do it and it always works for me.
