I have on several occasions tried to send a PM to someone I know on BYC when I could not recall how they spelled their user name for certain. All I could remember was what the name was. After guessing a multiple of times I gave up and thought, "Oh, I know! I will just look it up under the User List option!"
OMG!!! What a pain and huge waste of time!
There are over 500 pages of user names and you can only move 2 pages at a time to reach the ultimate section you need to be in to find the name you are searching for. ie: I am looking for lockedhearts. I have to start on page one and move 2 pages at a time from the non-alphabetical names to the alphabetical ones and on until I get to those starting with L before I can even begin to get any results. This takes a huge amount of time! It stinks!
We need am option to select a starting letter or numeral to go directly to the section we need to be in. If I could type in L as a search criteria and the user list show me all the names starting with the letter L, it would simplify this seach by eons!!
PLEASE seriously consider this as a positive change for the forums user list. I am begging you!!!!

There is an option for you to search by state and country if you can recall those details but unless the member you are looking for has listed that in their profile it is useless. This letter function would be so much better!

If you remember the first couple of letters of the screen name type those followed with the * symbol. It is a wild card and will bring all the names.

Example - I want to send you a PM and can't think of the full name. I go to the user list and type in Pump* and it gives me back this list.

The tools are there to use you just have to learn to use them.

Also did you read what is written at the bottom of those little boxes you select from?

Enter a username to search for and/or a user group to filter by. The username field can be left blank. Use the wildcard character * for partial matches. Sort users by name, date registered or number of posts and in ascending/descending order.
