hi!
Im thinking bout adding a fairly large addition to my existing coop before its too cold outside.

IF i do cement footings, and wire buried at the foundation for critter prevention, would the coop be fine with straw/hay on the floor till spring when i would have the time to pour a cement floor or do pavers? We are in Michigan,so its gonna get cold.
The rest of the coop has a concrete floor with deep litter and DE,
its about 8x12 now,i would like to double it.

TIA

Mine is also dirt. Have used nothing but dirt for years. Wouldn't have it any other way.

You can critter proof a coop by going out as well as down, and it's a lot less work. Like laying 2' or so of hardwar cloth on the ground around the coop, then securing it to the coop.
