ADDITIONAL INFO: Ugh. My Margo. Again.

Yeah they do a body autopsy. They would have noticed anything abnormal with anything they could see with their eyes. And these folks see a lot of chicken parts.
Unbelievable.
The plot thickens.
Did they say anything more about what other tests they sent out? I don’t know if there is a certain range they do, or tests just based on what they observe with the body.
Yes. Bacterial test on liver and lung and influenza test on Oropharyngeal/Tracheal.

Sounds good. Her red face was a slightly darker red and she felt very hot, so I won’t be surprised if it comes back as a raging infection.
Can you ask them if she had a lot of fat on her.

Sure. But wouldn’t that be noted already? And surely fatty liver would have been noted. Margo was a Leghorn and pretty lean, so I’m doubtful of the fat. I could see Bridge or Lucky carrying fat, though.
No not necessarily. The final report is usually much more detailed.

I'm just curious if she had a lot of fat. It's hard to tell/judge by just looking at them. Sometimes you can't tell until you actually open them up.

Kiki do you open up your own birds or send them in?
I have not done either.
If and when I ever do lose one I will be sending it in for sure.
I like specifics/details and I am sure I could take wild guesses but I want facts for myself.

Same here, as far as wanting facts. Wow, you’ve never lost one? How many years have you been keeping chickens?

Also, are you able to get good stock bred for longevity where you live?
I ordered day old chickens from a hatchery (Ideal Poultry) and have practiced strict biosecurity from day one.
I also feed zero treats. Complete feed and free range only.
