Just wondering if a 12x12 coop is big enough for 20 chickens ( and what is the limit for possible additions)? The coop is still in the process of being built but the “bones” are up and i just now thought to ask, lol. I’m definitely slow on the roll. Though, I think I did the math right.

I agree! That is a super nice coop for your chickens. My chickens LOVE to clump together and sleep all next to each other instead of spreading out. 😂( It’s not because the temperature. It’s most certainly not cold where we live.)

PERSONALLY I would say yes, especially if you have a run for them too.
they free-range, so no run. though, when im not home, they stay in the coop. tbh, I’d keep them in the coop regardless if i had a run or not because im paranoid.

While the size can technically hold UP to 36 a lot comes into.play.
If confined to the coop for lengthy periods I would stick to a much lower number.

Nest boxes, feeders and water dishes take up space so that needs to be factored in as well.

the longest they’ve ever had to in the coop without being let out has been 2 days so far. i don’t like keeping them shut in, but i don’t like them being able to do whatever ( and whatever get them ) when I’m not there. but, yeah, i want to avoid them being cramped because i know they’ll start getting antsy after awhile. i haven’t worked in the specifics of the boxes & feeders yet, but i did think about it some. im not good at pre-planning, im better at putting something in and going from there.
