ADM Brand Poultry Feed

Weevils deplete the nutritional value of feed and grind it to powder. Some say, well it's bugs and they love bugs. Not the same thing, sorry. You are feeding them something substandard and paying full price for it.

I always return feed if I find weevils, but I have never found any in my Tucker Milling. I used to find bag after bag of Southern States full of bugs at the place I was buying it-probably the way it was stored before coming to the feed store.

They have a dealer 25 mins from me. I'm please that they include animal protein and offer the medicated as well as the non medicated Thank you for mentioning them.

You mean Tucker Milling offers non-medicated starter? I've never seen that on their website or at the county co-op where I buy it. If so, I'll have to look into that. I have always been very pleased with Tucker Milling. Their mini-layer pellets are wonderful for bantams as well as standards.

with over 100K members and I'm always telling our members about your products. I am thrilled that they contain good porcine protein still, as many others have gone vegetarian these days, unfortunately. Great product, good price.

Thanks for your time,

Hey Cynthia, We do offer our Chick Starter in Non medicated and keep it in stock! They can order as little as 1 bag with there order. The Poultry Grower developer was designed for feeding out broilers but is also used for ducks, and situations where there are multiple species of chicks. It is fine for layer breeds as long as you switch them to a layer feed about 4 weeks before they start laying. They do tend to do somewhat better on the starter and it is cheaper. I love Backyardchickens.com its a great website! Thank you so much for your business!

Thank you so much for your reply, Amanda! I will ask for them to order me a bag of non-medicated, then. Wonderful to see that you know about BYC! I sure hope you are a member or will become one.

Thank you speckledhen. I am returning it this morning. We'll see what they say. I'd like to learn more about Tucker Milling. Looks like you're in N Ga and I'm in S. Perhaps they are available.
I'm not pleased with the ADM. It's really dusty.
It might not be ADM its self but in fact it might be the mill that you got the feed at.

ADM Alliance Nutrition is a fairly good Mfg of feed, ADM is a part of a "Alliance" /group of feed Mfg's that consist of MoorMan's, Master Mix, SuperSweet, and Consolidated Nutrition. There Alliance is much like how Purina and Land - O - Lakes Feed are sister companies or how Kent Feed, Blue Seal and EverGreen Feed are sister companies.

Funny, I just spoke to Amanda myself. She was genuinely helpful and eager to answer my questions. On their site they did not have a breakdown of the ordinary items you see in the guaranteed analysis and she pulled her file and gave me the numbers. I'd be happy to post what she quoted this morning. The feed smells fresh. I feel good about supporting a small family owned business that has employees that are friendly and helpful. BTW, she loves her Orps! (So I instantly liked her of course.) Thank you Speckledhen! I have found my mill and feed.

Thank you Chris. The label guaranteed analysis looks OK, but once the bag was opened there was dust everywhere. Then, the weevils finished me off. I realized that there are many steps between the time it is processed and when I buy it at the feed store. Not sure whom is responsible for various aspects of my end product. I just know what I saw. But I definitely understand what you are saying.

For example, when I returned the ADM feed, the store owner gave me a refund but admitted he had a weevil problem that he thought he had eradicated this weekend. This most certainly was not the mills fault, but quite possibly the turn over rate and the condition in which the feed is stored at the feed store. I also realize that in our South Georgia high temperatures and high humidity there will be weevils at times. The key factor in our area, once you find the feed you are happy with, is the turn over rate, the storage facility, and the willingness to make it right.
