I couldnt even adopt 1 cause I have 4 dogs already.

That is terrible!!!! I heard of a woman having 6 at one time. I understand they are looking for people that will be the best home for a dog, but I think they should lessen up a bit. I do realize it cost a lot to keep them, but just because you didnt get your dog fixed is a stupid reason to not let you adopt. Im 3 hours from the adoption place. But I think they are worth the drive.

My Cousin (one of the many) adopted a retired greyhound. Her name was Mary and she was the SWEETEST creature ever born. Honestly, she was wonderful, not to mention beautiful. She was a wonderful addition to the family. Of course, this is the family that had rat terriers and a pet deer... they guess that someone hunted mom and he was left behind... suckers that we are in our clan they brought him home.... I swear he thought he was a dog... they named him Norman... like City Slickers...

Hubby mentioned that to me today about dogs and he asked me, what about adopting a Greyhound? Well, we got a fenced yard but with chickens, I od not know if they would attack it. We got plenty of rabbits galore around here that needs some thinnings!

I used to have Borzois so to me, they would be like short haired Borzois LOL!

aww I bet that wouldnt be a good idea unless you want to kick the chickens outa there... Idk how high the greyhounds can jump but they might even jump to get a chicken ... I didnt think about that. Mine are outside the fence...

I have a few friends who have adopted greyhounds. They are wonderful dogs!

I used to foster for the humane society in our old county, and they brought me this dog who was VERY severely abused. I normally didn't take males, but this girl begged me to take him. I gave in finally, and said ok, we will see how this works. It turned out this dog was what they call a lurcher. They are used for illegal racing. Anyway, he's a grey hound/great dane cross. ( I'll post a pic of him in a moment) It's been 5 years we've had him now. He took a lot of work, and patience to get him where he is now. I think he is greatful we took him in. He's a wonderful dog despite everything that was done to him.

So, I wanted to tell you about this story because sometimes the grey hound rescues have these lurchers from time to time, and don't rule them out. I didn't know what a lurcher was until Riley came along. They are a lot like the grey hounds, and also make great pets. Most won't have such an awful background like Riley did. I was told later on that they can be mixed with lab also.

Anyway, here's a picture of him with our GSD puppy. The picture makes him look smaller than he is. He is HUGE.

My mom did greyhound rescue and foster for years. She had over 40 retired racers come thru her home over time. They are really cool dogs. The one thing I would mention is that while many are really safe in the house with smaller animals like cats and chickens once they are outside they cant be trusted quite as much. My mom had more than one racer that could live quite nicely with cats in the house but were quick to kill cats outside. I love their gentle sweet natures with people. My mom took her personal dogs thru obediance then trained them for therapy dogs. She took them to nursing homes and did public talks and demos with them. You wont be sorry with a retired racer. Hope your adoption goes thru quickly and smoothly
best wishes

All I know is these are orignated from Eygpt I think...and are smaller and not as hairy as Borzois. I also read they are couch potatoes with bad breathe that dont shed much at all (hypoallergenic, lol) and never have a doggy smell. But are sight dogs and will chase after anything small that flys by...
