I adopted a 1.5 year old leghorn rooster. It's been many years since I have been around chickens. I do not eat chicken or eggs. I'm thinking about adopting some non laying hens( hopefully just 2) I feel he would be happier. I do cook with eggs so if I absolutely had to adopt younger hens I will. Would this be possible with 2 older non laying hens?

You can always just give away the eggs. Or if you have dogs you can give them the eggs or you can even cook the eggs and feed them back to the chickens.

The other option is adopting chickens that are 4-5 years old which they are still young enough to be mounted by a rooster but they don’t lay as often since they’re older.
