Hello All,
About 4 months ago a Turkey, now known as Mr. Wattles, adopted our family. He showed up on our deck and day 1 we couldn't make him leave. He drove our dog crazy and didn't care how loud the noise was we made, or how much water we sprayed at him(DNR recommendations)he had decided the deck was his and there he remains today. The dog got used to him after 2 days and stopped barking, lol. He has only left 2 times since ge came, first to take a walk in the back wood(gone overnight and showed back up midmorning. The 2nd time his owner came and took him away(4 days after he showed up) and he was back by morning.
We have tried making him a house(turned a shed into a coup with good and water and a perch) but he refuses to go in it. He won't go anywhere besides the deck unless we are out in the yard, then he follows us everywhere. He even walked down the aisle with me at our wedding and back up with my husband and I. All the guests(about 105) did not bother him at all.
I am not sure how to take care of a turkey or what to do for him. Looking forward to learning some things from you all.
Tracy

Welcome. What an awesome story. Please post pictures of him at the wedding if you have them. I don't have turkey(s), but many here do.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Great intro! I'm envisioning an outdoor wedding with this turkey following you up the aisle. Someone has got to have taken a picture of this as that would be priceless!

We too had a turkey that wouldn't leave. One day she flew up and hit the big picture window in our dining room as she saw me. The neighbor who owned her finally locked her up in the barn for a couple of weeks and that seems to have broken her from coming here.

Your neighbor doesn't sound like they really care about it so guess I'd go to the turkey forum and learn as you now apparently own a turkey!
