I was given a snowy call drake today that is 1 1/2 years old. It was just him and his mate and his mate was killed a few weeks ago and the owner did not want to get another duck. I already have welsh harlequins and runner ducks so I'm already set up for ducks. I have him in a huge playpen inside right now and brought my black runner female (her name is Beetle) in to stay with him because she is the calmest duck i have ever had. I am getting 2 goslings in the mail in a few days and wanted opinions on having him in the playpen with the goslings until he adjusts. Will the goslings bond with him or is it a bad idea? I've already decided to get a few call ducks for him so he isn't the odd duck out (hehehe). Any suggestions on helping him feel more at ease. Here is a picture of him with Beetle. She is only 4 months old and way bigger

I might bring in a 2nd, small-ish duck, if you can, so Beetle doesn’t feel out of place, either. You could also give him a mirror to look at.

I’d be nervous having goslings in with a call duck. He could hurt them while they’re small, and in just a few weeks, they’ll be larger than him and could hurt him back.

I have an order coming from Metzer Farms with a couple runner ducks and I put a call duck on the order so he won't be the only little one. Just got 2 African goslings this morning so I'm gonna have all sizes.

I have a pair of geese and I love them so much. They are so fun. The ducks are a hoot but the geese seem to be a bit more elegant than the ducks...maybe even a touch snobby. LOL! If that makes sense.

They are so cute. And a nice variety of sizes. Spring sure brings out the feelings of having duckling/goslings around.

😢 1 of the goslings died this morning. I moved an order i had in with metzer farms to next week but they don't have any geese available that week. The order is for 3 runner ducks. They do have geese the next week and I can push the duck order 1 week so I can get another gosling but that's 11 days that this gosling would be alone. I brought her to work with me today but I can't do that for 11 days. Would she be ok alone that long so I can get another goose or should I just get the ducks next week so she isn't alone

Sad, what did you end up doing and how’s it going? Is your call adjusted to the others yet?

Well we named the goslings Mei Mei...and she is a totally spoiled baby. I got 2 more goslings and 3 ducklings but they didn't arrive until March 6th so she is wary of them but I'm sure she will come around but for now she just sticks with us and she oddly enough likes the 4 week old chickens I got so she has friends. She sleeps in the house with us because she says that's the way it's just gonna be but hey I'm fine with that. 😋 guess i have a house goose. I actually bought a female call for wee-man but he could care less because he only has eyes for beetle my female black runner. We named the female call Missy and she is 3 years old and fitting in just fine. She actually stole beetle's eggs and is currently sitting on them. Here are some pictures of my babies so now I have 8 chickens, 3 geese and 9 ducks. With Missy sitting on the nest...
