Hi,

My husband and I live in Baltimore and adopted a friend's bantam chickens last Spring (2014). We have 3 hens: various banty breeds. We don't know much about them other than they are older birds; one was a found as a stray and the other two were purchased without much info. Anyway, we love them very much.

We are a year in but still have lots to learn about chicken care. We'd love to meet other people who live in the DelMarVa area and raise chickens, particularly since we are considering buying a few hatching eggs in the next month or so.

Thanks,
Caroline

OH My, your avatar is precious. Is that your artwork? I bet the chicken folks would purchase items with that design on them. Once you have 20 posts, you can participate in the "buy, sell, trade forum on BYC. They have a category called "everything else for sale," which generally are homemade items, etc.

If you post photos of your banties at "what breed or gender is this." there is a good chance someone can ID them for you.

To post on your state thread, go to "where am I, where are you," in the social forum. You may find you do have chicken folks near you. Sorry I don't know how to do links.

A lot of times it is easier to just put the name in the search box( ie, ' so and so state' thread) and it will pop up for you. By all means, Welcome to Backyard chickens,"

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! That really is a lovely avatar!! How nice of you to take in your friends bantams and to give them a home. Here are some links for you to check out > For your state thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you

Hope you are able to get some hatching eggs. Incubating and hatching is a fantastic experience and something I enjoy very much. It's amazing to watch a new life emerge into the world after only three weeks.
Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

You've been given some great links to check out. Since you are interested in hatching, here are a few more for you to read (if you haven't already):

Glad you are enjoying your bantams. Are you wanting to hatch more of them or are you looking to hatch larger birds?

There is always something new to learn whether you've been raising chickens 1 year or 10 so feel free to ask any questions you may have. This is a great community with a lot of friendly, knowledgeable members.

Good luck with your birds!
