Hi a Friend of mine told me about this forum .

They just hatched some Baby Ducks at the School I am a Janitor in .
One has a bad leg bent completely sideways .
His other one doesn't seem quite formed right either .

I hand feed him and went on the weekend to feed and clean them .
I took a real attachment to the little guy !

How big a pen would I need to keep him in ?
And should I take two instead of just him ?

Thanks Bill

Adopting this little one could be very rewarding- but also time consuming- The leg bent out to the side may be able to be fixed by taping the two legs together- but it depends on the reason the leg is bent. Splay leg is the term used when chicks/Ducklings develope a weakness in the leg. However the other leg may be more of an issue. If this liitle one can walk at all - he may have a real chance of a semi normal life.

I have a disabled duck - who lives indoors as she will never walk. She is very small for her age and is kept in a babys portable cot in my bedroom. She has cushions and towels in there which amount to a lot of cleaning every day.

Depending on how severly handicapped the duck is- It actually may be better for you to consider just having the one- as an inside duck where more time can be concentrating on its care.
