Adopting chicks

My broody hen is sitting on the only egg left, and it's due to hatch here soon. IF/WHEN it does, would she accept some other babies if I can slip some under her at night?

chances are she would, especially if she is a typical broody type hen / breed for broodiness. however you would have to use chicks no older than a 3 days ( day olds work best) and she must still be sitting. if you plan to do this but have an egg or 2 to spare then slipping under a dud one can work until you can put the chicks under her because once the hatch is finished she will get off with the one chick.

Thanks, I'll try that. There's no guarantee the one egg left is even fertile.
