Have any of you had ANY luck with a goose/gander adopting goslings? I would love to try if I could.

Iain Utah did this with her ganders she gave them goslings and they took right over. my gander adopted all the ducklings that hatched here last year. They have such a precious maternal side to them.Have any of you had ANY luck with a goose/gander adopting goslings? I would love to try if I could.![]()
I would like to do a similar thing with my goslings. I have 2 goslings to replace my goose. Our weather has not been that warm. Today we will have a high of 50 but low of 30. Tomorrow high of 57 but then the highs for the beginning of the week are only to be in the upper 30's. I wish the weather was warmer so I could introduce them to him.I have 6 goose eggs in the bator set to hatch in 3 weeks. 5 appear to be developing. I'm hoping to get at least 1 but would love more. They are eggs actually from my pair of Africans. So it's their offspring. I would really love for them to do the brooding. It makes transition into the flock so much easier on a the waterfowl.
How old were the goslings when she let them take over the care?Iain Utah did this with her ganders she gave them goslings and they took right over. my gander adopted all the ducklings that hatched here last year. They have such a precious maternal side to them.

Quote: they were fully feathered (or 90%) and were slowly introduced from inside a fenced pen (at my suggestion) for supervised visits before being allowed together in the same space, supervised, and finally together. The two old ganders took to them, and ushered them about during the day once permitted together.
