ADOR1 Automatic Coop Door?

Installed ADOR1 last night. Appears that it worked this morning.
OMG!

Hopefully in time for the chickens to get out. Did you have a tornado? A wind storm? On the bright side that was some pretty sturdy construction. So what happened?

Had a terrible rain and wind storm move thru last night around midnight. After listening to and watching the rain swirl and beat on the house for what seemed like hours it let up enough that we took the spot light and looked around. And that was what we saw, an upside down chicken coop. We scooped up as many cold and wet birds as we could find and put them in the shop. This morning all birds are accounted for and only one turkey poult hurt, broken leg. The coop is still in one piece just need to figure out how to roll it back over onto its foundation.

Oh My Goodness! Well, I can maybe help with the rolling over idea. My coop came from a friend in another city where it was sitting in a small yard next to a block wall. We needed to move it over and then out the double gates. We tied towing straps on it, threw them over the top to the opposite side, then hooked those up to a truck and gently pulled. We kept another tow strap hooked on the opposite side and two men held tension on it so when the truck pulled the coop over it didn't plop over and break to pieces. It worked like a charm. Once it was out of that small area we were able to get in there with a tractor and pick it up to put it on our flatbed trailer to take home.

Glad your chickens (or most of them) were okay. That must have been so scary for them!

My little set up doesn't need an automatic door but it sounds nice. Does it have a back up power source for when power goes out?

If you read the whole thread...or go to the website, you'll see that there are several power options.
Best option is probably that it'll run off a 6v battery for 3 years.

The chicken coop has been righted and back on its foundation. The birds kept a close eye on what was going on, they missed having their house for their afternoon siesta. I was a little concerned that they wouldn't go back in but when sundown came they all started going in and at 8:55 the ADOR1 closed. I think we can testified that the ADOR1 is a very well made door. Thanks everyone for your concern but it appears that the birds are gonna be alright.

OMGosh!! Did the shed roll over the side the Ador is mounted on? What a great testimonial!
Glad everything's OK...guess you better tie that coop down somehow?

DH had just installed the new door on Friday and that night such a terrible storm came through! It took the coop off the foundation ripping the pen off as it picked the coop up and flipped it on its top. We went out in the rain after it had subsided a bit and gathered up all the soaking wet birds and put them in the workshop. Sure enough the next morning the door had opened up just like clockwork. Only one broken leg and a lot of traumatized birds. We are beekeepers and are used to putting bricks and blocks on our hives to keep the lids from blowing off. We only had two hives that lost their tops, perhaps we should put a pile of blocks on the coop? Seriously, I don't know that anything could have prevented what happened.
