Ador1 automatic door issue

@Quatie did you know that @AdorStore is here on BYC. They commented on a post of mine (I misspelled the product name and incorrectly stated that they weren't on Amazon - but they corrected me 👍). So, hopefully they can find their way here to assist with an actual issue.

Thanks! Didn't know that. Hopefully I can get some direction instead of trial and error. Today is a flood irrigation day, so I am going to see if I can keep the door shut tonight.

Figured I would document my tests, so maybe this can help someone else someday. Set up this test tonight. So far, so good. I have no ducks escaping at night. Just very disappointed ducks. I will need to come up with something more permanent, but this looks hopeful so far.

I am posted this in case it is able to help anyone else with my issue. I have created a more permanent solution with some flashing. I screwed it on to the door. If you choose to do this, take off the cover and make sure you will not be screwing into anything behind it. I painted to prevent reflection. So far it appears to be working in the rain. This summer, when we have flood irrigation, will be the final test.

What is that cord going to it ?

Mine is inside the coop and I have the sensor stuck outside just out from under the lip of the roof. I've not ever had a problem with it and Ador was always easy to get a hold of through email when I had a question. I think they also have a telephone number.

I also want to say that even if you have a porch light on it will trigger the sensor, since it is light that opens it. I knew there were people that had a spot light out at their coop and it would trigger it.

I'm also not sure where your standing water is near the coop. Do you have a pic of it?

BTW, LOVE my Ador even though it makes noise when opening as the sprockets are on the side not in the middle like yours

I will clarify what I wrote. I am not looking for help at this point, but instead providing this thread now as help for others who have the same issue as me. If you read through the thread you will see ador has never responded to me, so I wanted to leave this as a guide for what you can do. I only plan to post in this thread one more time here to confirm how my modification works during flood irrigation.

I replaced the battery with a rechargeable one and connected it to a solar panel. The cord goes to the solar panel.
