Adventures in Incubating Shipped Eggs

Pics
Pip #3 - from a Svart Hona next to the noisy Appenzeller. I think she's cheering the others on. I'm a little concerned, because the pip is at the wrong end, nowhere near the air cell. I don't think it's an unintelligent chick, poor thing... the egg is very round, and it's hard to tell what is the big end.

Here's some encouraging info from BYC Educator Ridgerunner:
"The reason a lot of chicks die when they pip at the wrong end is that they drown because they did not internal pip into the air sac. But if yours has external pipped and is breathing air, it is past that danger."

I hope that's the case!

Still nothing here. Blehhh.
I have a confession - all my pips are in my HB incubator, which I was intentionally running a degree higher than the Yosoo. If you were running yours at proper, normal temps, I think it's to be expected that you may not have early pips. They'll pip when they're ready. :hugs

Thank you.

I thought the days prior to lockdown were difficult, but now I am 10x more anxious. Lol.

I need to calm down.
Yeah, hatching day is just crazy. It seems the incubating days just fly by but on the last day I'm full of anxiety. Just wanna grab the eggs and shout at them "Are you in there??? Wake up guys!!!"

Actually, I did lay my head on the incubator to listen, and then shouted: 'Come out babies!!!!', and then went back to listening.

Lol.

I even tried to get crafty by sticking a straw down into the incubators vent holes with a light shining into it to candle. Didn't work. :(

Well, I made what I thought was going to be another fruitless trip down to the basement to check the bater and, lo and behold, I had a pip. It's not willing to peep to me, lol, but the external egg has been breached. If you look really hard at the NW portion of the Maran egg in the front, you can see a bit of a white pimple, which is the pip. The one drawback of my brinsea is that your top view is obscured the the heating/fan unit.

The question is, will I be able to sleep tonight.
