Very sorry to hear that, but don't give up quite yet. It is very hard to see movement when the shells are full. That is the same scenario which caused me to open a past due and abandoned broody egg only to find I had killed a living chick inside. I popped the other 3 abandoned eggs inside my incubator and had chicks hatch on day 25 and 26.

I would leave them in for at least 24 more hours and than do a float test before giving up.

One shell which had the poor cam develoment isn't full. Many light areas.

The other has mostly all dark areas until I slowly move to the bottom. The bottom appears to have a red splotch in the pointy end.

If you do not have any external Pips, you can candle the eggs.

Well, I made what I thought was going to be another fruitless trip down to the basement to check the bater and, lo and behold, I had a pip. It's not willing to peep to me, lol, but the external egg has been breached. If you look really hard at the NW portion of the Maran egg in the front, you can see a bit of a white pimple, which is the pip. The one drawback of my brinsea is that your top view is obscured the the heating/fan unit.

The question is, will I be able to sleep tonight.

What we need is an incubator with a built in candler, say with grid coordinates.
Candle at: 1,3! *candler moves to egg #5*
That will be a good project to build next

I started my day by crouching down and pressing my ear up against the incubator because, well, who doesn't?

No peeps, although I'm pretty sure I could hear something. Like a crinkling, scratching sound.

Can someone please help me to understand why you do this?

From what I understand you place the egg in water to see if it moves correct?

How long does it take the water to get still after you put the egg into the water?

Why would the egg move in the water yet not move when you candle it?

I lost my stethoscope. Used to do the same!!!

It doesn't take long to settle if you put it in carefully. The float test detects small movements we don't always see with our eyes.
