I am a first timer raising chicken, as an adult anyway. So far its been a blast, should've got some years ago. anyhow they are about12 weeks old, I got the coop done and they have been stay in it for a couple weeks now. I have started working with them the other day on letting them out on nice days and they just cruze the yard like nobodies business, they are out for about 20-40 minutes then they run back to get some water then right back out again. somewhere and sometime yesterday on there little escapade the wife and I where talking and playing with them when the wife noticed she had blood on her hand(as they where climbing on her) we ID'ed the chick that was bleeding. turn out she has a little cut on her foot, we cleaned it with warm water then a little of that peroxide and water solution...

is there something else I should do or know about this, please somebody let me know so that I aint killing her. ANY advice will help!!!

thanks so much,

Ray

Clean the cut and put a little antibiotic cream/ointment on it (one without painkiller). I sometimes wrap cut/split toes in a band aid for the first day or 2 if it's really bad. Just watch the other chicks don't peck it. If they do apply a little blu kote. It will mask the blood.

I cant thank you enough. I think its ok now but what is blu kote.
is that something I need to keep around?

WOW---- good info and thanks again
