Advice for caring for sick duckling

Grammy:
“Well, I have been watching Peanut deteriate all afternoon. Checking on him every 15 min trying to get him to drink. Every time he would choke. I was using a small eye dropper today even those tiny droplets were too much for him. I held him several times, trying to stimulate him. Stroking him and talking to him. At 5, I Placed him in the brooder and had to prop up his head. Popcorn wanted him gone tried to peck hi eyes again. I put him back in the incubator. At 6 he was still breathing but had stopped chirping. And could not hold his head up. And 6:15 he barely moved when I picked him up to love on him. At 6:30 he just lie in my hand lifeless but still breathing. At 6:45, I held him for 5 min. Tried to give him liquid. Came out his nose, not swallowing. Placed him back in the incubator. At 7 he was not breathing. My heart is heavy at this loss. Thinking I could have done more. I was really hopeful this morning after his bath. ”

What a cutie, one thing you want to be aware of when hobbled they can drown in a water container that is open you might want to try something like this View attachment 1909433
@Miss Lydia. What breed are these jet black ducklings? I have 1 duckling that looks just like your picture. Beautiful black feathers, eyes, Bill, feet and legs. Gorgeous duckling!

I apologize for asking on this thread. Original poster, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your Grammy both <3

Sad..Next time don't offer anything by mouth because little Ducklings and Chicks first absorb the yolk in their belly so that's why they can be shipped for three days from hatcheries. Possibly it aspirated on the fluids you provided. I'm thinking it didn't need the hobbles either. It would probably of found its feet in about 24 hours or more...
