Advice for Human/Chicken Shared Door

It still needs to be painted and made to look pretty but at the moment it's functional for both the chickens and they humans.
I'd not bother painting...actually I'd have just put a concrete block down for a human step, chickens don't need anything there.

It depends on where your coop lives. If you live where it gets cold, or if the coop is located in such a way that rain and/or snow would enter through an open human sized door, then a pop door really is best. You want to keep moisture out of the coop while giving chickens access to the outdoors. I'd put steps in here and a pop door in the human door. Chickens can maneuver steps. That being said I do love the pallet ramp!
Thanks for the info! We're in Northern California so moisture is pretty much unheard of around here unfortunately.

The ramp has been working really well for all of us - and it's a favourite place for my chickies to hang out, like it's their front porch in the 'hood.

Awwwww! Fuzzy feet! Lucky you. I'm in NJ and can't really have fuzzy feet. Snow and rain would be a serious health problem. I love the "porch".

Is this your whole flock? I see one pullet and a bunch of roosters?

Haha no, this was the Old Boys Club but sadly the cute little MF D'uccle is the only one of these boys remaining in my flock (the boys in the back and one other not pictured have given their lives to feed my family now).

At present, I have a flock of 21 - 3 cockerels and 19 pullets. Only two of the girls are laying (Babette, pictured above with the boys, and Lucille, her sister who is the top hen.) Beau, the D'uccle, is the top cockerel and is exclusive with the sisters, leaving Armand my splash Polish to take care of the rest of the ladies. My Silkie cockerel Buffy seems content to live his life as a barren pullet.

Beau still enjoys watching over his kingdom from the front porch though. :)

That's a very happy looking flock. :thumbsup

I love all the accessories. Makes their run more interesting.
