Our gander got a nasty cut on his foot, right at the ankle, and though he's stopped limping completely his wound hasn't been healing as well as we thought it might. We've been cleaning it out and putting neosporin on it, with bag balm over that, but it's hard to prevent him from walking or using the foot, especially now that he's stopped limping. Any advice? How long does it usually take these things to heal?

I appreciate it! Thank you!

I guess if there is a plus side to your story it's that the wound is on the top of the foot and not the bottom. That being said, it sounds as if what you're doing is fine for healing. Is there is way that you could confine him and keep his foot from getting wet? Keeping it as dry as possible will speed the healing process.
I use a medicated cream called Silver Sulfadiazine which heals cuts, scratches and wounds beautifully and quickly.
The time it's going to take to heal will depend upon how dry you are able to keep the wound.
Best of luck to you and your goose.
