The Sultan was attacking the new chicken because it didn't recognize it. Try penning them near one another a few days before the introduction and they may get along better, since this will give them a chance to get to know one another without being able to fight.

Panic over! We ended up taking the sultan back to the farm, the husband that works there told us it was a hen, when we picked up our legbar yesterday his wife had a go at him saying that sultans can't be sexed so early.
So after speaking with them this morning they suggested we took him/her back and we picked a silky cross.
We added her to our legbar and they are now snuggled up sunbathing together and seem the best of friends! I think the legbar has finally relaxed and is enjoying her new home and new buddy
