Advice needed on my enclosure for hen and chicks

The coop that came with my house doesn't have enough room to house a small kennel for my broody and her chicks. (She hatched 6 of the 8 fertilized eggs I put under her). My husband made a shelter for the girls in a corner of our run and I have been using that as a makeshift shelter for the broody and chicks. It has been warm here in Nebraska and I figure my hen can handle the overnight temperatures. She is separated from the rest of the hens by mesh fence and that goes up to the edge of the shelter. My question is, should I block off the front of the shelter or leave it open? Blocking it won't prevent something from getting in there that is small. The two photos show the fencing and the front of the structure.

Your run looks somewhat secure. It is still vulnerable to snake entry.
I don't think closing off the entrance is necessary, unless you encounter a severe storm, and winds. I would place additional straw/hay into that enclosed area, so chicks could snuggle in the bedding.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:
