I have read some of the threads or writings about porous eggs - seems to be a mixed bag of reviews on them and their safety - hatch rate - etc. Thoughts ? I have two that did not look porous when i set them Monday but now are looking rather porous! grrrrrrr thanks!

Did you look at the pictures on the sticky at the top of the index? Look at the porous egg on that thread and see if yours is really porous. I have read about people hatching porous eggs with no problem. I would just watch for a blood ring or the egg getting smelly. If it is developing fine, I would leave it in the incubator.
Here is where you will find the pictures: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=261876

All eggs are porous so they can breath. The bloom (?) protects them from bacteria etc.

If you wash eggs the membrane of protection may be damaged on the egg.

I'm not sure I understand the question

I've never had a problem hatching them.

Porous eggs can be the result of low calcium in the diet or can just be because a bird is a prolific layer. The faster the egg goes through the bird's body, the less calcium is laid down on the egg.

Some of my wheaten eggs are porous and I have tried every kind of supplement to try and make a difference in the shell quality but nothing has worked. Yet, the eggs hatch just fine.

Yes the picture is what they look like - like you know on a persons skin when they have really big poresLOL Ok i will just watch them then - i thnk you all for the advice - first time hatcher here - and the nerves of steel are failing me!
