I’m so sorry I haven’t posted since this past winter when my Rouen female Laverne hatched 7 babies! It was a magical time and she was the best mama ever! They all found good homes too so that eased my heart!

Back at the end of June I lost my jumbo Pekin female to a combo of a fox( after talking to the neighbors who actually chased the fox away once with their riding mower and then with their gator! My heroes!) and over zealous mating. 💔 Loosie was the kindest sweetest soul ever and I miss her. That being said, my 2 Pekin females, Pato and That Duck also had a run in with the fox 2 days later. Pato actually came in at the usual time but no sign of That Duck. She slowly made her way along the front of the house at twilight so I knew something was wrong because all my babies come in at the same time on their own. You call them, they answer you! Call again and they come running! I picked up That Duck and she immediately wrapped her neck around mine and didn’t let go for like 10 minutes. I checked her over 2x after and found nothing so that eased my mind. After a couple days she started walking with a limp. Been there so I wasn’t too worried. Then came the sneezes and the wheezes and runny nose…uncharted territory for us. I learned from a duck person near by that respiratory issues can be trauma induced if they are an asymptomatic carrier. We now have run a course thru penicillin, liquamycin and Baytril. She gets better and then when she’s almost done treatment she gets sick all over again. She gets poultry cell and probiotics in all her water, I’ve been using VetRx and nothing seems to be working. And I don’t know what to do next. While I’m waiting to hear from my Duck friend who reached out to her Duck friends I thought I’d reach out to you all and see if anyone has any suggestions. Plus side I now know how to give her injections and orally dose her! That’s her after one of her oral doses in my picture…she loves to snuggle and hide her face! She loves to get and give kisses, and dance to Sam Hunt! Thanks on advance for any help!

I'm wondering if possibly she might have an internal abscess from a bite that is not resolving? Only a veterinarian could determine if that is the cause of her recurring problems. Good luck in finding a resolution.

Thank you! That’s something I hadn’t even considered. She did have a prett bad abrasion at the bottom of her sternum but it was kept clean and healed over without any issues but maybe have it checked anyway. I’ll keep you posted for any breaking news!
