I went in on a batch of Cornish Rocks with a friend who has started raising them in her coop with her other chickens. They are now 5 weeks and she has been feeding them 24/7. This am she lost 2. I will be bringing my three home today and finishing them in my coop which has a meat bird coop attached to the side. I was under the impression that after the first 2 weeks they should be feed 12/12. I believe she still has them on starter/ grower. Should they be on a grower/ finisher now and is it safe to switch them to a 12/12 feeding schedule? Any advice, tips, and any other info I need to know that I'm not aware of (new to raising) would be greatly appreciated :)

I limited feed after a week, but I have kept them on 18% starter the whole time. I've only had one loss, mainly due to procrastinating processing.

Good luck with your remaining three! Restricting feed should help them out from now on.

Thank u! I'm hoping for the best :)

if you went in on them then losses should be shared.....you owe her a bird...I look at like this ...you trusted her for raising and she put her time in on it...you asked for thoughts...jeff

Okay, so one of my meaties has been wheezing since I brought them to my coop. Now 6 weeks old and on 12/12 feeding. Should I process this one sooner or wait the two weeks???
