Advice on 10 day old bottle goat

We have just about weaned 4 baby goats. We fed them all whole milk from the grocery store. They are very healthy. They have grown well. one was only 10 days old when we got her.

All of my goats and my sheep were bottle babies and I have used everything, but with my latest little guy, a baby Barbados, I am using this recipe and he has never had scours or any problems, PLUS...he's grown so much better than the others did on either milk replacer or whold cow's milk.
3 cups warm water
1 cup powdered nonfat milk
4 cups whole cow's milk
¼ cup heavy whipping cream
3 tablespoons plain regular, not fat-free, yogurt

Please be careful with replacers, in general their protein is too high for goats, and beyond and worse than that, they can often become contaminated. A couple of years ago a friend of mine was using replacers, and she kept loosing kids. She had the replacer checked, and it had salmonella, 3 bags later, it still tested positive. If replacer is all you can get, then yes use replacer. But fresh goats milk is best, and whole cows milk works well especially in diary kids. For Pygmys I use full fat half and half, and btw, they have never had a problem with digestion. I have tried several recipes over the years, and found they all caused scouring in my goats, probably because I didn't shake the mixture well enough at each feeding, but none the less, I don't need more work, and dirty bottoms.

I bottle fed a baby goat myself, With whole milk, we fed him 3-4 times a day, He stayed in the house till he was 3 months but that was becuase we got him in Jan and it was like -20 -30 here at night. He is now outside and can handle 0 above wheather with proper shelter and hay for warmth. When he was about 3 weeks old we were giving him 16 oz each feeding not sure on a week amounts for feeding cause we didn't get him till he was 3 weeks.

Purina Goat milk replacer stuff worked just fine for me. Plus, it smelled good, and it came in awesome buckets. You can never have too many buckets.
Smell that milk replacer, and so many good memories come back...wow, that was weird. sorry.

Thread Hijack here...so how much should a baby Nigerian get (about 3 weeks old)....we have been giving her about 10 oz 4 x a day lately...but i think she needs more..but i dont want her to bloat if i give her too much...any suggestions? also...what about grain? start with the sweet grain right? and how much to start her on? Thanks for any help

Our babies are exposed to hay and grain with their mothers daily from birth. They really seem to enjoy dried beet pulp as their first thing from the grain dish. It is cute to watch them pick it out.

I have mixed up and used 3 cups whole cows milk and 1/4 cup canned milk and just a dab of yogurt for their stomach. Works great and no scours...
I also cut cuffs off a child's sweatshirt and put it on my baby boer goat to keep her warm when she was outside... Then I bought her a large adjustable dog jacket at Walmart....

Just be real careful with switching food alot because babies scour and dehydrate very easily.
