Advice on chick's belly button

it's a birth defect from incubating when the yolk sack is not absorbed completely and then dries out causing an obstruction preventing the skin forming to seal itself.
Unfortunately from what I have seen this can often end in fatality, probably because the chick is constantly exposed to getting an internal infection.
I personally would not use ACV but then again not sure there is much that can be done. It can't be pulled on in any circumstances as it is connected to the organs.
I would have either sealed it with glue or keep it as dry as possible and hope the body absorbs it and seals up.
Any wetness will encourage an infection.

maybe some wound baby cream might help

Thank you! The wound is already dry, if it's a good thing, it relieves me. I'll try to search if I find some cream of that kind

Hi everyone, just wanted to update about her/him
In the following days she didn't ate much, I even tried to give her some wet chick feed but didn't worked. She didn't had pasty butt anymore though.
She gradually healed, the white thing in the belly disappeared and the swelling, too.
Now she is one of the most active chicks in the brood, she just looks some days younger but she's perfectly fine and she's feathering out as much as the siblings.:D

I am so glad I read this...I thought I was loosing my mind because I got her vent clean. I then noticed the hard dark crusty spot below the vent. I did a bit of research and iodine was recommended. I just put iodine on it. I just got her yesterday and she was jumping all over and being rambunctious. This morning nothing she just stands there. I have lost 3 of the 6 I ordered and nursing another and now with her. Only 1 healthy chick. I am feeling down but glad for this feed because I wouldn't have known exactly for sure.

What is the likelihood of survival if I discovered the infected bellybutton while cleaning pasty bum? I used iodine. She stood for an hour then finally sat down to sleep. She woke up perky. I checked in on them in the early morning and she had pasty bum again. I cleaned it and the belly button still looking crusty so I put some iodine on it again. She stood for awhile and slept and is playful again.

How is the chick doing? Mine is 5 days old and it is dark about the size of a small grain of rice.

She's fine. Now she's a nice 4 months old pullet :D
At the end I didn't used nothing on the wound until 6 weeks old, then I found a bottle of propolis and I tried that on the wound. It healed in few days
