I have three 11-mo old runner ducks, all laying. I am adding three more in the next month (still in brooder inside). My first three are eating Mazuri food - mostly layer feed but sometimes mixed with maintenance feed. They free feed throughout the day and usually finish all their food, combined with foraging in their pasture/enclosure (plus treats, of course). Any thoughts on food when the younger three are integrated in the coming weeks? Is it okay for them to eat the layer feed so far before laying?

I prefer to feed an all flock ration year round. The young ones need a starter grower. The older ones can eat it as well. Just make sure it's non-medicated. Add a separate bowl of oyster shells if you don't already have one. They will consume them as needed.

I feed a mix of oats, peas and fertrell nutribalancer to ducks over 5ish weeks (when they are done in the brooder and big enough to integrate with the flock). Oyster shells available free choice. It has worked well for my ducks. They do free range year round as well.
