Advice on getting a hen to stop laying for a little while

I am going to be a proponent of culling her. Especially if the others start pecking at that vent. I think that even if you stop her from laying eggs now, when she starts back up again, the problem will reappear. I think you might just be prolonging the whole ordeal. Just my two cents. It must be a flaw in her laying system, and once it gets over stretched out, that she prolapse, I think it will continue to prolapse.

I think you're right as hard as it is to admit. I guess on the bright side, before all this, she had a pretty good life. Thanks for the input. I guess I'll have to make the arrangements for that big coop in the sky

To take a hen out of lay you want to decrease light (hard at this time of year) & drop the protein in her food. I had a similar problem years ago & fed her oatmeal for awhile. Of course I separated her from the rest in a large dog kennel. I also fed her greens. I was sure she was a goner, but she pulled through & then I had to deal with reintegration, but it worked out.
