advice on how to get rid of one of my roosters

I have rehomed all but 3 of my 20+ roosters that hatched out last winter. I am very picky about who gets my roosters. I screen and meet and visit the properties and charge a $5 fee. Even the ones you sell for a bit of cash more than likely end up as a meal. I know the extras I sell at the poultry auction 99.99% of them end up in somebody's stewpot.

Once you sell a rooster, even to a "nice" home that does not mean he doesn't go into the stew pot. Once he's sold he's no longer yours and you have no control over what happens to him.

A human aggressive rooster is never "great breeding stock." To promote one as such is misleading and close to lying. In all things genetic, like begets like. Human aggressive roosters can cause severe damage. Just ask anyone who has lost an eye because of a rooster attack.

My advice to Gatlin is to see if you can 'break' your rooster of his agressive behavior. There are lots of threads on here about doing this. Many different opinions too. But if you are going to keep an agressive rooster you don't want to have to worry about him attacking you (or your dad) everytime you turn your back. You don't have to be MEAN about it, just firm and consistant. And I also think that anyone he attacks needs to be the one(s) putting him in his place. I had an agressive roo and taught my grandson to stand up to him - problem solved! Good luck!
