This is kinda of a late response but I think you got some pretty sound advice. I'd cover them and leave them on as long as possible. Your plant looks beautiful. Love the way it looks staked with branches. Nice touch.
My Luffa's were tough as nails and lasted years. My plant got attacked by a pickle worm but the immature plants aged fine and were usable. I just let them sit for a month, then soaked in a bucket of water and pealed the dry skin off. Save seeds and share. Luffa's are the best.
