Hi! I have a rooster who I would like to process soon. Any advice? I have no equipment and it will be my first time processing a chicken, but I’ve watched a few you tube videos... haha.
Thanks!

Make sure your knife is really sharp. Try to avoid the feathers, stretch the neck, and cut quick and deep into the neck just behind the jaw. That's the best way I've found; the bird loses consciousness very quickly.

Thank you very much for that advice!! I will have my husband sharpen the knives tonight 😊 thank you again!

I want to process my own chickens, but I'm too squeamish around blood. Eugh.
Completely understandable. But you can work up to this. If you have someone to help you with the killing part, could you handle the rest of it? Once the bird is dead and bled out there is very little blood to deal with.
