I have had a hovabator 1602 for ten years,am hatching chicks in it right now, they are great little bators at a reasonable price, definately get the egg turner. turning eggs by hand is a nuisance.
I'm following this post thinking of a great xmas present my dh can give me....a bator! I've seen folks post about a hatcher....what's that? (please forgive me for being clueless...LOL). Is it to give the bator room to hatch the eggs once they start pipping? Can you explain how it all works?
A hatcher is if you have staggard hatches. so your Day 18 eggs go in the hatcher and your other eggs that are on day 11 for example stay in the incubator. That way you dont risk drowning them when your day 18 eggs get there humidity upped
Its no problem. Glad to help. I hope these people warned you of the addiction? If not I will tell you to prepare you. There are addicts like me that wont stop hatching. It gets worse where the bator never gets unplugged. We just keep throwing eggs in there to hatch week after week. I think the longest the bator has been unplugged for was 20 minutes.
I am really looking forward to it. I started with 8 wk pullets from the feed store...now chicks....hopefully in a few months eggs....I'm going backward LOL! I keep looking at all the neat breeds and am in love with the frazzles & sizzles...hee. I'm ready to trade some and I haven't even gotten my first eggs yet.
Whyyyyeeee didn't you people warn me about this addiction when I signed onto this site!!!!
