We have some Light Brahmas, 2008 Spring hatch, that we would like to sell. They are all female.

We have just decided to diversify a bit and go with smaller breeds because these seem to be eating us out of house and home! Maybe we are doing something wrong in the feeding too, not sure.

Anyway, I am wondering if tehre is somewhere that would give me an idea on what price to ask for them?

Last eyar I did buy soem hens about this age and paid $5-$7.50 a piece, is this a good range?

Thanks,

I think you will find pricing all over the place. I bought 10-4month old Black Australops for $8, but also heard of similar size Domineckr's selling for $16. I wont pay that price for any chicken, but somewhere someone did.

I was selling mine for $8 to start with last year, then went to $12 and now if someone wants any of my chickens I am asking $15. But I am not in the chicken selling business, only the egg selling. And people keep buying my chickens! LOL
I say put a price and see if anyone wants chickens. Or check out your local ag paper and see what chickens are selling for in your area or state. It is probably cold enough right now in your area no one wants to house and feed any hens but once April or May gets here you may be able to sell them 3 times over.

i sell them for $10 after 4 months old,, $15 once they lay their first egg,,, but it depends on where you live,, i could sell 1,000 laying hens for $15 a piece in a month here lol
