Advice on starting my quail journey?

Hi! So I've been planning on raising quail for a while but haven't had time until recently, now that summer is around the corner and I'll have a lot more time to build and work with the birds I want to ask you my fellow bird lovers to explain quail to me, I may start by buying a couple of adults and then move on to some chicks.

Housing: I have an old chick coop/outdoor-brooder that's 8x6x6 that's completely caged in and it's a dirt bottom floor with a fencing top and a smaller dog house inside for them to get out of the rain, I'll be adding bushes for shade on a later date when I find out what kind of bushes are safe for them

Feed: I was told just to give them the same feed I give my turkeys and pigeons, Is that alright?

Laying: what would be an acceptable nesting box for quail and how often do they lay?

Breeding/hatching: how would I get my quail to go broody and what would be the ideal male to female ratio?
I am in my first spring since I got quail last early summer and realized quite quickly that my birds (coturnix) are quite vicious when fighting. We used to have them all in one small cage that was supposedly ok to house that many. Guess what, as they matured I quickly found myself with badly scalped and beaten to death birds. We promptly separated them, looked for any males and culled unwanted birds. We hept them separate until we built a more suitable cage to house them together in. Now we have just one male in with three females, and two extra males kept separately. The males will fight and pick on each other a lot more then roosters from what I've observed with my own. Even if they have grown up together.

Right? They're vicious!

One day I came out, and there was blood everywhere. I'm surprised that poor quail made it.
My sympathies friend. Their good at making what can only be described as a scene of a crime in their cages....

The plus side is that their beautiful birds, small, and make some lovely sounds to hear. Their eggs are pretty to.

I had one quail a couple of years ago, didn't know what it was when it was given to me so for 3 year's she lived as a janitor in my pigeon aviary and she seemed pretty content, I didn't know they could be so violent!
